Ready to publish? Are you sure about that? The click-to-publish revolution has radically altered the landscape authors must navigate. Self-publishing no longer carries its automatic stigma of the past. Traditional publishing has been shaken and is scrambling to evolve. It's an exciting time for authors, but guess what? None of that matters one bit if you're not ready to publish. If you try to break into traditional publishing before you and your writing are ready, you'll be rejected. If you self-publish before you and your work are ready, no one will buy your books. It seems obvious, yet hundreds of thousands of people are publishing millions of books that are nowhere near commercial quality. How do you avoid this disaster as a group?
This session encourages writers to expose themselves to critical feedback early and often. It talks about where to find that feedback, how to interpret it, and how to respond to it. In a candid presentation, writers will learn to examine themselves and their writing, and most of all, to hone their craft to a professional level before hitting the publishing trail.
